Prepare yourself for the most boring Suns trade deadline of all time

Nothing to see here, no really.

The Phoenix Suns finally got caught up in the baseless trade deadline rumor mill, with Dillon Brooks apparently headed to the Los Angeles Lakers.

That won't happen, although there are a number of players fans wouldn't mind moving on if it means the roster improves ahead of what it is hoped can be a run to the playoffs.

Suns will have boring deadline where nothing big happens

But for all of the talk of movement around the league, the reality is the Suns are going to do next to nothing and won't excite fans in any way with splashy moves, and they should be delighted by this fact.

About as interesting as it could get is trying to create a bidding way for the services of backup center Nick Richards. One in which forcing the price up to a pair of second round picks would be enough to trade him.

That's hardly front page news, but the lack of going after a name like Kevin Durant, Chris Paul or Bradley Beal speaks to the sudden stability this franchise has found.

They've got a roster that is competitive each night (which is why the struggling Lakers would be linked with Brooks), and Devin Booker is engaged with what the organization is doing.

Owner Mat Ishbia did say on a podcast with Ryen Russillo not so long ago that if anything he was going to have more of say in the day-to-day running of the team, having been too hands off when they were taking wild swings to try and win it all.

But being more involved does not mean making big trades for the sake of it, while General Manager Brian Gregory and the front office have done a frankly incredible job identifying talent that nobody else wanted.

When you put all of this together, and also take into account that we've barely seen Jalen Green, of course there won't be big trades involving the Suns.

They might get involved as a third team to facilitate bigger deals and skim a pick off the top, while the fact they are ahead of schedule makes them an easy team to put in trade rumors.

But they've discovered a formula that not only works in a young head coach in Jordan Ott leading a hungry roster, it looks like they are only going to get better in the next 12 months.

So turn off your notifications and enjoy this season and roster for what it is, Phoenix doesn't need a big name to come in and save them. They are in a great spot as they are.
