Giannis Antetokounmpo has been traded to the Miami Heat, not that the Phoenix Suns ever had a horse in that race.
They were shopping in a different aisle altogether, being linked with the likes of Julius Randle although that has thankfully come to an end with his trade to the Brooklyn Nets.
Suns must keep tabs on Kel'el Ware after landing in Milwaukee
One player they have to ensure they are in the conversation for if he gets moved again is center Kel'el Ware, who was just sent to the Milwaukee Bucks in the Giannis deal. The 22-year-old has played 141 career games for the Heat already, but might not be what Milwaukee has in mind for the position.
He will surely be given at least a season to prove he can be a starter there, but the Suns should be checking in constantly about his availability. The Bucks are rumored to have interest in Jalen Green going back to his Houston Rockets days, and he should certainly be on the table.
Green is still only 24-years-old himself, and is the kind of exciting scorer the Bucks could look to turn to in order to sell tickets. The fit next to Devin Booker hasn't worked to this point either, making this an ideal scenario for both organizations.
The Suns will likely bring Mark Williams back on an extension this summer, Shams Charania has already alluded to it being the next piece of business in Phoenix after re-signing both Collin Gillespie and Jordan Goodwin, but that doesn't mean he is a long-term solution here.
Even if a sign-and-trade doesn't happen this offseason, there are enough desperate teams out there who need a true big man such as Williams in order to compete.
His injury history will always be a problem when it comes to negotiating, but if you told Suns fans they could move on from both Williams and Green and get Ware plus other stuff to continue trying to win with Booker, they would take it immediately.
Much like the random Josh Giddey rumors that popped up recently, Ware is a prospect to target because the Bucks are reeling from the loss of their franchise cornerstone and are there for the taking in trade talks.
He is everything the Suns could want at the position, and would form a fiercesome future duo alongside Khaman Maluach with Oso Ighodaro backing them up.
