One other major duty Coach Fish is going to be performing for the Phoenix Suns is operating as the head of the applied sports science division. As the NBA continues to shift to a more analytically focused league, sports science is becoming increasingly important. In order to get the most out of your players you have to know exactly what buttons to push in regards to fitness and nutrition. Sports science is one way that many NBA teams, including the Suns, are using to improve their on court play.
We know what his duties are, but is Fish qualified for this new role? Upon taking a quick look at his resume the answer is a resounding yes. Most recently Fish was operating his very own performance training company called Jeff Fish Performance. Before that Fish served as a consultant for the Portland Trailblazers, the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks, MLS’ Seattle Sounders and several other professional teams.
Going back even further, Fish served as the National Football League’s first ever director of athletic performance for the Atlanta Falcons.
