Hands up if you had the Phoenix Suns sitting at 21-15 at this stage of the season? We're not sure what is more impressive, already having 21 wins or being six full games over .500.
The defensive side of the ball is the reason why this has been the case, owner Mat Ishbia can gloat about this as long as he likes, although their surprising campaign continues to shock members of the media.
Zach Lowe cannot believe Suns are this good despite limited offense
It's been great to have Zach Lowe of The Ringer back in our lives, and we love how he doesn't mind being proven wrong. He took the under on this group for example at around 31 wins, and they will be going all the way above that.
Lowe is also in awe of the way the Suns have been able to knock off contenders such as the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder, despite not having another elite ball-handler in Devin Booker.
He's not wrong on that, and again ranking 10th in defensive rating (112.9) and being viewed as perhaps the toughest out in the entire league right now is a massive reason for their success.
But to be scoring 114.6 points each night, a shade under league average, is a minor miracle, and a trio of players deserve the credit here for the Suns continuing to defy expectations.
Grayson Allen is not a part of this group, but we must not forget that when healthy earlier in the campaign he was enjoying having more offensive responsibility. The results were not terrible either.
But really Phoenix is getting a career year out of Dillon Brooks, who has also proven to be a better fit than Kevin Durant was alongside Booker. Apologies Kevin, we know you hate to hear that.
Then there has been the legitimate emergence of Collin Gillespie as a guy who can start, give you 30 productive minutes a night and whose decision making we have highlighted in the past.
Finally there is Jordan Goodwin, who in his second stint in The Valley has somehow become even more important than the first go around. He has been brilliant off the bench and keeps the offense ticking over when he is on the court.
So yes Lowe should be surprised that Booker and that assortment of players could ever be this consistently good. But when you look at the leap his co-stars have made, he really shouldn't be that shocked.
