You know the NBA's trade deadline is heating up when even the Phoenix Suns are getting brought into the conversation, most likely against their will.

They're rumored to be in the market for an upgrade at the power forward position, although whether or not that actually happens remains to be seen. Why mess with a good thing you know? Even if this Los Angeles Laker is rumored to be available at a price they can afford.

Suns won't be making splashy moves as they have in the past

Michael Scotto took to HoopsHype to share all that he has heard going on around the league, and it is worth noting that he believes the Suns won't be making the kind of massive move they have in the past.

Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings had been mentioned as a potential target for the franchise going back a couple of months, but according to Scotto that won't be happening.

That would also seem to indicate that Jonathan Kuminga won't be heading to The Valley either, which makes sense given he could yet be part of a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade when it eventually happens.

A situation that it would be in the best interests of Phoenix if it were resolved soon too, so that they can try and improve their roster around the fringes would the holdup over the Greek superstar has cleared.

Either way it looks set to be a quiet deadline in Phoenix, and although they clearly have great chemistry and could yet make the playoffs, is that the best approach when Booker is 29-years-old?

He is clearly enjoying being the man again on a roster that plays hard every night, while the fit alongside Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green (when he has been fit) has worked brilliantly.

But one year from now if the franchise is in the same spot, or worse yet takes a step back, how enthusiastic will he be about what is happening in The Valley?

There is no point in making moves for the sake of it, but when the best package supposedly available for Giannis is Kuminga, an injured Jimmy Butler and four first rounders, there are clearly deals to be made out there.

The Suns' front office was right to change their approach and not jump at the chance to sign any star who came along. They now need to be careful they don't go too far the other way and sit on their hands as opportunities to improve around Booker present themselves.
