The Phoenix Suns emerged as one of the the winners of the two-day NBA Draft process, mere days after being a laughing stock around the league for trading Kevin Durant for seemingly cents on the dollar. A move that immediately looked better after Duke center Khaman Maluach fell to them with the 10th pick in the draft, a selection given back to them by the Houston Rockets in the Durant deal.
Phoenix followed that up by making a few trades in the second round - and when all was said and done - they had ended up with Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea. For those keeping score at home, that's another big in Fleming - who admittedly is more of a forward - and yet another shooting guard in Brea being added to the roster.
The Suns next move has to be finding a high-level point guard.
Having so many players to now fill both their center and shooting guard rotations is a good problem to have, especially compared to the lack of depth of the Durant era. But this roster is going to look different by the time the regular season begins, and there are likely going to be more trades by the organization.
Brea is an exciting pick that fans were delighted with, but competing with Devin Booker, Jalen Green, Grayson Allen and even Bradley Beal is a daunting prospect. The path is easier for Fleming, although Maluach, Ryan Dunn, Oso Ighodaro, Nick Richards and new recruit Mark Williams all have to be get their minutes as well.

But whether it is through trade - or somehow convincing a Tyus Jones type to come to The Valley on the minimum again - a point guard to run the show has now become a matter of urgency. The Suns do now have the likes of Ighodaro or even Richards to enter trade talks with, because there's already not enough game time to go around.
We've already examined how Allen's time is likely up, and he is another interesting player in that he certainly has some value around the league. Then there is the likes of Chris Paul - who many would love to see return for one more run - and who is an unrestricted free agent. He proved in signing with the San Antonio Spurs last season that he is not ring chasing, so could a return appeal to him?
Monte Morris might be brought back once again in a backup role, and it would make sense given he didn't get much of a look in last season and when he did, he generally played well. But whether it is through free agency or trading some of the assets the franchise suddenly has at their disposal, getting a floor general is the most important next step in building what looks like an exciting team.
