The Phoenix Suns added two players in Amir Coffey and Cole Anthony at the trade deadline, saving themselves some money in the process.
Although neither new addition is likely to be a long-term solution in The Valley, Coffey is at least going to get a chance to show what he can do in the coming weeks.
Anthony not with Suns team currently
The same cannot be said for point guard Anthony, who it was revealed ahead of the matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers that he is currently not with the team.
Suns guards Devin Booker (ankle) and Jalen Green (hamstring/hip) remain questionable for tonight's game vs. 76ers while Cole Anthony is listed on the team's injury report listed as "not with team." #Suns pic.twitter.com/pk5rIj8Br3

This rightly fueled rumors that he is going to be waived, and it is hard to think that might be what is best for both sides. This could even have been agreed upon prior to the trade.
The Suns themselves unknowingly gave us a clue into their thinking on all of this on social media, as they put out a post welcoming Coffey to Phoenix.
Only they didn't say a thing about Anthony, which is a strong indicator that he may never actually make it to The Valley to link up with his new teammates.
On top of that, this trade deadline move looked like a great way to ensure two-way guard Jamaree Bouyea gets converted to a full contract as he has only a few games with the main roster left.
Not only was he the big winner at the deadline in Phoenix, he also forms part of a point guard rotation that head coach Jordan Ott does not want to mess with.
For all of the hops he possesses and great teammate energy he gives off, Orlando Magic fans hated to see him go for that reason and to be fair haven't quite been the same since, he's just not a coach Ott type of guard.
There's an unpredictability to his offensive game that can range from inspired to baffling, and the Suns already have Dillon Brooks on this roster to create some chaos.
Defensively for all of his willingness he's just not as good as Bouyea or Jordan Goodwin, while he does not have the all round game (and frankly unexpected 3-point shooting percentage) of Collin Gillespie.
So heading to another franchise that can talk themselves into believing he can make a difference seems the logical next step here, while Coffey steps in for the injured Grayson Allen.
Bouyea will then join the team permanently, and if they can get Devin Booker and Jalen Green back soon it will be full steam ahead to the postseason. As you can see, Anthony does not figure in any of that.
