Suns could steal next Mark Williams from under noses of entire league

High risk, high reward.

The Phoenix Suns were never going to make a big splash at the trade deadline, but that doesn't mean they will stand still either.

The latest intel coming out of The Valley being that they are interested in upgrading the power forward position, presumably as long as it doesn't come at the cost of disrupting their excellent chemistry.

Jonathan Isaac is next Mark Williams waiting to be saved

Which is why Jonathan Isaac of the Orlando Magic is actually the best player the Suns could attempt to trade for in the coming days, as he ticks all of their boxes.

Although he is five years older than current Suns' center Mark Williams, who is having a career year, he is the perfect buy low candidate the Suns could target.

Many believed parting with a pair of first round picks for Williams was too much, but he has proved everybody wrong by staying on the court and even appearing in back-to-backs.

He also recently turned in his best performance of the season in a win over the Brooklyn Nets, proving that even without Devin Booker, Jalen Green and Collin Gillespie, he is capable of dominating.

Why couldn't it be the same for Isaac? Not only that, but the Magic are currently falling well below expectations and pressure is mounting on their head coach Jamahl Mosley.

They are ripe for a panic trade to try and steady the ship, and it just so happens that financially swapping Isaac for Grayson Allen straight up works.

Not that the Suns would want to move Allen right now. Every time they need a role player to step up Allen has answered that call going back to when Bradley Beal was in town.

But Isaac is the dream forward for head coach Jordan Ott, a defensive monster who would turn a top 10 defense into one of the best in the league.

Isaac is only in the first year of a four-year, $59 million deal, so there would be long-term security in having him alongside Booker and Green.

The balance of that trio plus Williams and Dillon Brooks would also be excellent, and the Suns could talk themselves into being fringe contenders at that point.

Assuming Isaac could become healthy like Williams has in Phoenix is an even bigger stretch than when they swung a trade for the former Charlotte Hornet.

If ever there was a time to get a difference-maker on the defensive end on the cheap though, it is in the coming days as the Magic scramble for a way to get better.
