The Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat trade already feels like old news, and that's because the first round of the NBA Draft has also come and gone.
The Phoenix Suns moving up into the first round to select Koa Peat of Arizona, likely signalling the end of Ryan Dunn's time in The Valley in the process.
Myles Turner is the final offseason piece for Suns to target
With Giannis gone and the Milwaukee Bucks clearly favoring a rebuild over continuing to try and be competitive (otherwise they would have accepted the Boston Celtics' offer centered around Jaylen Brown), center Myles Turner is stranded in Cream City.
Which makes him the perfect player to target, as Turner would bring balance to the Suns' roster construction which to this point has had an eye to the future. Peat and Khaman Maluach are 19-years-old, while Rasheer Fleming is 21. Oso Ighodaro is 23 and both Collin Gillespie and even Jordan Goodwin are long-term solutions brought back this summer.
But with the organization wanting to do right by Devin Booker and win now, they need another impact veteran in the same way Dillon Brooks was last season.
Turner fits the bill, and the Suns have an opening offer of Dunn and Royce O'Neale to try and get the Bucks interested. They did have some second round picks which Milwaukee definitely needs, but they vanished when Phoenix moved up to select Peat.
Perhaps Grayson Allen and Dunn would be of more interest, although whichever wing the Suns sent (and they should keep one of them), would be getting flipped by the Bucks anyway. Fleming and Maluach should be off the table, although Ighodaro being included might be a necessary price to pay.
If that package seems light for a 30-year-old who only signed a four-year, $108 million deal with the Bucks last summer, consider that rumors of the Toronto Raptors being interested in his services hinge on a package consisting of Jakob Poeltl, Gradey Dick and draft compensation of some kind.
Granted the Suns can't offer much draft compensation of any kind, but that is hardly an unbeatable offer that should deter Phoenix. If they want to remain competitive and make the playoffs again, Turner is an obvious choice.
This would also allow the Suns to let Mark Williams walk this offseason and not have to worry about paying him now or trading him in the future. Another reason to give this serious consideration.
