Devin Booker finally breaks silence on being face of the franchise again

Loving it.

Although Devin Booker has been the Phoenix Suns' franchise cornerstone for as long as we can remember, during his time spent with Kevin Durant he wasn't always viewed in that way. Although he was still the number one guy on the posters and fans loved him as much as they always did, Booker didn't mind deferring to Durant on the court.

This led to a weird dynamic not often seen where the face of the team was sometimes the second option offensively, but if anything it only highlighted what an amazing teammate Booker is. He doesn't care who gets the credit, the 29-year-old just wants to win for The Valley. This season has seen the Suns become all about Booker once more, and he is thriving.

Booker loving the responsibility that comes with his role.

The superstar spoke to the media ahead of the Suns' road game with the Golden State Warriors, and he was asked what it means to once again be the undoubted face of the franchise. This is a team that does not have championship aspirations and instead is trying to build their roster from the bottom once more, and as you can see from the video below, Booker is here for all of it.

He also looks like a more relaxed figure than we saw in the early goings of the season, but winning games and getting to see a lot of the ball will have that impact on any player. The thinking had been that perhaps he could get disillusioned with the fact he took the bag to play out some of his prime years on a roster that would struggle to make the play-in.

But for now at least, Booker is enjoying the responsibility that comes with being the man, while also showing love to those who respect him for being loyal to the franchise who drafted him. If he did decide to leave in pursuit of a championship one day, although fans would be crushed, many of them would understand.

Booker has been among the most loyal servants in Suns' history, never complaining and simply getting on with the job no matter who the organization put around him. He's clearly enjoying playing with some of his new teammates as well, with sophomores such as Ryan Dunn appearing ready to step up and help Booker do the heavy lifting.

To see him happy at this point in what is a long season - while also clearly understanding what he means to Phoenix when he's at home and one the road - is a brilliant outcome for a franchise that took a big step back this offseason. As long as he can see the big picture here, and the front office make the right moves around him, Devin Booker is going nowhere.
