Not looking forward to this.

The Phoenix Suns aren't the only NBA team who had massive question marks hanging over their roster this offseason, the Milwaukee Bucks found themselves in a somewhat similar situation. Much like Devin Booker in The Valley, the entire franchise in Milwaukee revolves around one man in Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The 30-year-old one of the best players in league history, and the reason the Bucks have been relevant for as long as they have. Yet in losing Damian Lillard and Brook Lopez - with Khris Middleton having been moved at the deadline last season for the divisive Kyle Kuzma - many felt Giannis was going to leave the Bucks.

Bucks' signing of Giannis' brother sign of things to come in Phoenix.

In the end he opted to stay - and although he could still ask to be traded at any time - the latest move from the front office there has a whiff of desperation to it. That's because the Bucks have brought back none other than the brother of Giannis - Thanasis Antetokounmpo - in what is the clearest indicator yet they will do literally anything to keep him.

The only experience the 33-year-old has in the league - when he wasn't playing overseas - was with the Bucks as well as a brief stint with the New York Knicks. His time in Gotham also seen by many as a ploy to lure Giannis to that team, although nothing ever came of that. Now it is the Bucks of all franchises who are using that tactic, and Suns fans could be staring into their depressing future.

That's because Booker has owner Mat Ishbia right where he wants him, as the franchise cornerstone and also under contract until the end of the decade. The Suns are about to enter a rebuild - that could be worse but that's not saying a lot - while Booker at 28-years-old surely wants to get back to the NBA Finals. The place where the Bucks of all teams beat him back in 2021.

But with Grayson Allen the second longest serving Sun and Jalen Green the next best offensive option behind Booker, it is clear they are going nowhere fast. The organization is still not in charge of its own future either though, thanks to the trades that landed them both Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal. Moves that have come back to haunt them in a big way.

So as they fail to make the playoffs in the next couple of years, look for the front office to do whatever Booker wants to keep him engaged. They may have turned down the idea of bringing back Chris Paul this offseason - a move Booker was reportedly all in for - but that will be the last time they turn his requests down.

With his long-term financial security sorted - and just as important public opinion on his side as even the most hardcore Suns fan couldn't blame him for wanting to leave - the threat of a trade request hangs in the air in The Valley now. If Booker had a brother he'd be making his way to Phoenix sooner rather than later, but the equivalent is coming.
