The Phoenix Suns made some massive roster changes this offseason, but they also ensured Devin Booker is the franchise cornerstone moving forward. The 28-year-old the focal point for everything the front office is doing, as they try once again to build a contender in Phoenix. With over a decade's experience, Booker is also easily the longest tenured player the franchise has.
But who comes in at number two? The answer is going to surprise you, and it also proves just how bad things have gotten for the Suns in the last few years as well. The previous number two was Kevin Durant by virtue of the fact he was signed before the trade deadline in 2023 and so played two-and-a-half years for the team. But it's not like that was a long tenure either.
Grayson Allen now holds distinction of second longest time in Phoenix.
Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? But with Grayson Allen entering his third full season with the Suns - and with Durant and Bradley Beal having left The Valley - the 29-year-old now holds that honor. If you look around though, it's not like there's much competition on the roster. The Suns have three rookies plus a pair of returning second years in Ryan Dunn and Oso Ighodaro, so they don't beat Allen.
Then there are Jalen Green and DIllon Brooks, who are yet to play a game for the team. Mark Williams only joined this summer while Nick Richards - both of which were formerly with the Charlotte Hornets - came across at the deadline last season. Jordan Goodwin is interesting because he joined the team in the Beal trade and so landed at the same time Allen did.

But he was subsequently let go and did enough with the Los Angeles Lakers to earn another chance with the Suns. So his time was between two stints and so doesn't beat Allen either. Collin Gillespie is entering year two while Nigel Hayes-Davis, Jared Butler and Isaiah Livers have also never played for the franchise before.
The only remaining guy who you would think pushes Allen close is Royce O'Neale, but he joined at the trade deadline last season. Ironically another player who could have sat alongside Allen here had he not been let go is Bol Bol, as he played two seasons for the organization. If Bol is one of your longest serving players however, then you've got massive problems as he's still without a home.
So while Booker is signed up for this rebuild through to the end of the decade, the lack of longevity throughout the roster is massively concerning. This is a lot of new and young faces coming together to try and win, and we all know that is going to take time. For Allen to be the second longest player with this group having been in the Deandre Ayton trade, highlights the lack of consistency here.
