As free agency rapidly approaches, the Phoenix Suns would seem to epitomize the phrase “beggars can’t be choosers.” As we’ve covered, the Suns are a second apron team which means they’ll have to get by with minimum contracts.

Wwhile the cap situation league-wide means some really good players will have to settle for the minimum, it doesn’t mean everyone available will be a bargain, or a fit for this Suns team.

The Suns have to be judicious when picking from this group, as any players signed will have a bigger role than the typical veteran minimum player due to the shallow nature of the roster.

Furthermore, due to the inability of second apron teams to add bought-out players during the season, the Suns will be pretty much stuck with any free agents they pick up. Thus, it’s important to avoid players who present an injury risk, or bring with them a history of distractions.

With that in mind, here are three players the Suns should avoid in free agency, and instead look to focus their attentions elsewhere on players who will bring with them more stability, and less off the court chatter.
