3 reasons to be pumped the Phoenix Suns are back!
By Corban Ford
The season is back everyone, and the Phoenix Suns are among the teams standing.
It has been a long journey folks, but season play will resume, and the Phoenix Suns are in it. To say I am excited is an understatement. However, before I start sharing some reasons why, let me share a little about myself.
My name is Corban Ford, and I am an NBA fanatic. No exaggeration, my morning starts with NBA newsletters and ends with basketball simulators. I enjoy classic NBA games, long, often pointless NBA debates, and a questionable amount of Michael Beasley and Monta Ellis highlights. As a Phoenix resident, I enjoy watching the Suns, and I am excited to be able to correspond here with all of you amazingly passionate fans. With that being said, let’s get started!
A huge reason to be excited about more Suns basketball is more Devin Booker!
Let’s be real. More chances to watch Devin Booker? That’s just a beautiful thing. The 1st time All-Star is averaging 26.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.6 assists this season, and not one of those categories are a career-high for him in season averages!
It’s honestly mind-blowing just how good this guy is. Now, for the first time in his career, Booker has the opportunity to realistically visualize the NBA playoffs, and make that dream a reality. The groundwork to this has been put in all season through this point, and Booker will surely come into this truncated final stretch to the season with a desire to carry this Suns squad to the promised land of postseason play.
The second reason to be pumped is to be able to have the chance to see a full Phoenix squad just in time for the big stage. In what I’m sure is a massive understatement, it has been a trying season for Suns fans.
There was the Deandre Ayton suspension after a promising opening night win. Then the injury to Aron Baynes after his inspiring, NBA-shaking play. And who can forget the many bumps and bruises to key members of the team, ultimately culminating with Arthroscopic surgery for Kelly Oubre Jr, Tsunami Papi himself?
Fortunately, time heals all wounds (well, that and great medical care and rehabilitation) and the Suns can potentially resume this season with every key player available to them. To be able to possibly see these Suns, easily the most successful iteration of the past five years, play again this season fully healthy and with a possible playoff berth on the line? You can’t tell me the thought doesn’t spark a glimmer of joy.
Lastly, I think I can write for all of us when I say we are all excited to interact with this wonderful Suns community! Whether on Twitter or YouTube, in the comments or in person, some of the brightest and most passionate fans in the NBA will once again be able to reassemble, to scream with a primal roar on every big dunk or clutch shot, and slowly cry a little inside with every costly turnover or untimely mistake.
For Phoenix Suns fans, our strength lies in the community, and now that community will have the opportunity to shine through again this season.
