The Playoffs

The Phoenix Suns face off with Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in the first round.

A back and forth series where Ayton dominates in the paint and Bridges does a fantastic job frustrating Doncic leads to the Suns winning the series in 6 games.

Newly-minted Valley Boy, Fred VanVleet, has 32 points and hits eight 3-pointers in Game 6 on the road as the Suns put the Mavericks away.

In round 2 they face the defending champion, Los Angeles Lakers, being pushed to the brink by the Warriors in seven games in round 1.

The Lakers win the first two games in Los Angeles with ease as Anthony Davis explodes and the Suns struggle to knock down jump shots.

The Suns come back and win Game 3 by 25 points in front of a raucous Phoenix crowd in the revamped Talking Stick Resort Arena as Devin Booker has 38 and Ricky Rubio has a triple-double.

LeBron has a vintage performance in Game 4 and off-season addition Joe Harris hits a huge three in the final seconds of overtime to give the Lakers a win in Phoenix and a 3-1 series lead.

Devin Booker has his first truly special performance on the national stage in Game 5 in Los Angeles and his 44 points lead the Suns to a 114-109 upset victory to keep their season alive.

Back to Phoenix for Game 6 where Oubre and VanVleet combine for 49 points and the Suns ride a hot shooting performance and homecourt advantage to 127-116 victory and a winner-take all game against the defending champs in Los Angeles in Game 7.

More from Valley of the Suns

Both teams struggle from the field and appear worn out and the Suns take a 74-71 lead into the 4th quarter in Game 7.

LeBron comes alive and the Suns start turning the ball over and lose their composure as the Lakers pull away for a 107-95 win and advance to play the Clippers in the conference finals.

National commentators laud the Phoenix Suns for their incredible season and pushing the defending champions to seven games in the 2nd round.

Deandre Ayton and Mikal Bridges are given their first big extensions after their rookie contracts and Kelly Oubre is re-signed to a new deal.

The next great era of Phoenix Suns basketball has begun in earnest and the Valley Boyz are recognized on the national stage.
