A coach that will be around for more than a year

Before you eat that mound of mash potatoes this year, thank the heavens for Monty Williams.

The man could very easily have been leading LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the rest of the new-look Los Angeles Lakers to what will likely be a run deep into the postseason.

Instead, through a series of fortunate events, he decided to lead the new-look Phoenix Suns in what, at the time, appeared would be an early offseason.

Monty Williams, however, has turned that presumption on its head, and brought winning basketball back to the Valley.

Along with his quality basketball coaching skills, Williams has leaned into the Valley Boyz culture. He even took a moment to video-bomb Kelly Oubre after a post game interview.

Even if your basketball-adjacent cousin doesn’t know much about the Suns, he likely knows the Phoenix Suns have had five head coaches in the previous five years. Be thankful they found someone who will stick around for a while and introduce some much needed stability into this franchise.
