Is there any doubt who the Suns would draft?

Literally every Mock Draft has the Zion Williamson going first overall:

NBC Sports: (PF) Zion Williamson – Duke

NBADraft.net: (PF) Zion Williamson – Duke

NBADraftRoom: (PF) Zion Williamson – Duke

Tankathon: (PF) Zion Williamson – Duke

Valley of the Suns: (PF) Zion Williamson – Duke

More from Valley of the Suns

Of the Phoenix Suns’ numerous weaknesses, power forward is obviously one of their two most glaring, so adding a PF at the top of the draft would do wonders for their starting lineup.

Of course, adding a supreme talent like Zion Williamson would, of course, do even more than that – he’d help make the Suns great again (maybe not next year, but it wouldn’t take long).

If for whatever reason James Jones and Co. believed that he won’t develop into the superstar that the rest of us believe him to be, Jones could look to flip the pick, and all signs point to it being one that would be highly sought after – much more than what the Arizona Cardinals might have received in return for their own first overall pick and Kyler Murray.

The most recent first overall pick to be traded was the one the Boston Celtics held in 2017 when they flipped with third overall Philadelphia and the rights to acquire Jayson Tatum.

This year the Suns likely would likely not have any interest in moving back to three overall, although they could potentially follow in the footsteps over the Orlando Magic in 1993, only moving back just one spot (which has never happened before in NBA history), and fleece a team.
