Make the Right Trade(s)
Step Three is ongoing but vitally important: USE YOUR ASSETS WELL AND DO NOT WASTE THEM.
Not only have the Suns not made the right trades a number of times over the past decade, but they have also missed out on the right trades as well.
Leaving names of those missed players out of it, if the Phoenix Suns are ever going to be a superteam with Devin Booker in the fold, they are going to have to make at least one or two splash trades that nets the franchise the additional star and quality talent necessary for a superteam to evolve.

More importantly, they cannot trade away their best talent, especially in any sort of salary dumps or ill-thought through moves that were tremendous risks on Phoenix’s part, and that never amounted to anything of value (like trading three first round picks and Bogdan Bogdanovic for Marquese Chriss).
Trades must either be highly calculated moves to acquire a star that the franchise feels eminently confident in, and the kinds of necessary deals to fill out a roster with active veteran talent who accept part-time and partial roles, but who’s leadership and savvy help to carry the franchise over the top.
You know, the very kinds of moves that Jerry Colangelo seemed to make every year, and which Robert Sarver has never been able to do.
Suns fans fully expect that Phoenix is going to make at least one trade this season, potentially to acquire a point guard like Markelle Fultz.
Whatever that trade or trades will be, will be telling about the future of moves for the Suns.
Those moves must be made right and must acquire talent and/or assets that helps Phoenix evolve right away.
Because if they don’t, well, you get the idea…
