1. Ajdin Penava – Marshall/From Bosnia (6-9 215, 20-years-old)
Ajdin can shoot, is a decent rebounder and is a human fly swatter. You are not driving on him. Don’t even try. It’s not happening. The only thing happening is a slashing guard watching his attempt fly into the stands instead of the net. He had a shooting line of 55-33-75 with 15.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and a jaw dropping 4.1 blocks (led the nation) this season in only 29.3 minutes of action. That’s 10.6 rebounds and 5 blocks per 36 minutes. He humiliated Ohio with a 33 point, 15 rebound, 9 block night. That’s a big reason why Penava was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year. I mean with his knack for rejections, why wouldn’t his defense be recognized? I’d plug him right in on this Suns team. Think Dragan Bender’s three point shot with Troy Daniels’ confidence, Alex Len’s rebounding and Anthony Davis’ shot blocking (maybe even better). You want him too now? Understood. Phoenix would be very wise to spend a second round pick on someone like Ajdin. He will not disappoint.
