No fan should blame Devin Booker for the Phoenix Suns’ overall lack of success after the All-Star break in the month of February.
The last week of February only had one bright spot for the Phoenix Suns‘ with their first win of the month. However, while the team’s record was abysmal, franchise star Devin Booker put up phenomenal numbers in the club’s rough skid. Booker reached a new level of play which earned him the last player of the week award for February.

In a single digit loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, Booker had a bad night shooting. He ended the contest with 27 points, one rebound and four assists, while making 7-20 of his field goal attempts and 2-9 of his 3-point attempts. His saving grace was his 11-13 shooting from the foul line. It’s hard to imagine that this game was his worst performance of the week.
The Suns’ were narrowly defeated by the Portland Trail Blazers, but Booker bounced back from his previous performance against the Clippers. Booker light up the Blazers with 30 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks, while connecting on 11-28 shots from the floor and 5-10 of his 3-pointers. This was the second time this season that Booker had more than one block in a single game.
Booker had a monster game in the nine point loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. He produced 40 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and one steal. He made 50 percent of his shots from the field and 30 percent of this shots from behind the arc. This was Booker’s third 40-plus point game this season and his first 40 point game this season where he had a double-double.
In the win against the Memphis Grizzlies, Booker yet again had a big scoring night. He had 34 points, six rebounds, one assist and three steals, while shooting 12-29 from the floor and 1-6 from behind the 3-point line. This game marked the third straight game of 30-plus points for Booker, the first time he had done so this season.
Honorable Mention
Booker rightfully earned the player of the week award from last week’s winner, however Elfrid Payton is still very deserving of the honorable mention award. For the last week of February Payton averaged 14.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.5 steals. These are overall solid numbers for Payton and Suns’ fans should expect to see this type of stat line from him for the rest of the season.

Booker’s production down the stretch helped the Phoenix Suns and their fans get through the rough month of February. During the last week of the month, Booker averaged 32.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 0.5 blocks and 1.0 steal. Fans should watch in earnest to see if Booker can continue this high scoring production for the rest of the season.
