Amar’e Stoudemire is one of the greatest big men in Phoenix Suns history and now he brings his talent to a new stage with the Big 3 League.

He was a part of one of the Phoenix Suns‘ greatest one-two punches in franchise history. Amar’e Stoudemire was one of the greatest big men in the teams history and has finished in multiple top 10 statistical categories with them. While not all of his career was in Phoenix, he will be remembered as a great part of Suns’ history first and foremost. Stoudemire now brings his talents to a new stage that Suns’ fans should be excited to see. It has been announced that Stoudemire will now play in Ice Cube’s Big3 League.

This is a basic three-on-three league and the video below illustrates the rules for those who are unfamiliar with the Big3.

This type of environment should be perfect for Stoudemire to thrive in. He ran fast pace offenses in Phoenix, so this shouldn’t be any different for the big man. Stoudemire had his best years of his career with the Suns, so this style of play should benefit his skills and health.

More from Suns News

Suns’ fans should be excited to see Stoudemire thrive in Ice Cube’s league. However, he isn’t the only old NBA face joining the league in it’s second season. Players like Drew Gooden, Carlos Boozer, Glen Davis and Baron Davis will also be joining the Big3 as co-captains.

Stoudemire joins fellow new comer Nate Robinson as co-captains led by the captain of Tri-State Big3 veteran Jermaine O’Neal. Tri-State looks to be a serious contender with those three as team leaders. Last season, Tri-State ended in sixth place, however a twin tower combination of O’Neal and Stoudemire should change the team’s fortunes this upcoming season.

The Big3 should be even more exciting for NBA fans now that they can see more elite talents like Stoudemire joining the league. Suns fans wanting to see Stoudemire will have to wait for the new season of the Big3 league to tip off June 22nd of this year.
