How the Suns can pull off a trade for a star
By Adam Maynes
Washington Wizards
The Wizards, with Bradley Beal and John Wall leading the way, are a strong playoff contender every year, although as their roster is constructed, they will never be a championship contender. They would love to add more star power around that backcourt duo, but at what cost?
T.J. Warren is better than Otto Porter. However, Otto Porter, who is still only 24-years-old and might eventually be better than – or at least as good as – T.J. Warren. In particular, Porter is a better 3-point shooter – by far. Warren though would add talent to the Wizards roster now, making them a better team right away.
If the Suns and Wizards swapped those players, with a protected future first round pick coming to the Suns, the Suns might have just picked up a star in the future with a pick to be used in other moves later.

I’d love to say that the Suns could wait out this season, have the Wizards play another mediocre year and make it no farther than a five or six game exit in the second round, then make a run at John Wall with the expectation that the Wizards are ready to rebuild (say for Phoenix’s first round pick with Josh Jackson and Marquese Chriss), but I doubt that would ever happen.
Although I suppose you never know.
