The Eric Bledsoe saga has come to a close, but the Phoenix Suns didn’t win the trade with the Milwaukee Bucks in any stretch of the imagination.

Eric Bledsoe is finally on his way out of Phoenix and heading to the Milwaukee Bucks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski. The Bucks have a lot of young pieces that could have helped the Phoenix Suns in their rebuild. However, it appears that Suns general manager Ryan McDonough has failed to acquire any such player. Instead he trade for Greg Monroe, who has little room left to grow his game.

A scoring big man and a first round draft pick isn’t fair value for a point guard that could’ve easily been named an All-Star last season, if he was on a team with a better record. According to ESPN, the Suns will also recieve a second round pick in the deal.

In a previous article, I had stated that the Suns may had already brought down Bledsoe’s trade value too much to win any future trade they could make to deal the point guard. With the analysis appearing to be accurate, the Suns may have made themselves the biggest joke of the season with this trade.

Monroe is a great low post scorer, but with a career defensive rating of 106, Monroe isn’t a good defender to put it kindly. This deal has now caused a log jam at center and the Suns will need to figure out something in the near future to remedy this issue. The first round pick received has lottery protections and is still not good enough offset the lack of a young player not included in this deal.

Wojnarowski tweeted the finalization of the deal is still taking place, but as it appears right now the Phoenix Suns have lost this trade. Hopefully, this move is the first of a few for the franchise in the following weeks.
