Phoenix Suns: One bold prediction about the shooting guard position

Phoenix Suns’ shooting guard Devin Booker is bound to have a great season, but Booker will improve in one area of his game which will surprise everyone.

First there was the, “Phoenix Suns: One bold prediction about the point guard position” which was about Devin Booker and this bold prediction is about him as well. This is impart, because let’s face it, Booker is a one of the best up and coming players in the league. Booker has a lot going for him going into his third season with the Phoenix Suns. Booker is a young offensive guru that has had problems on defense in the past. This season, Booker will increase his steal average to 1.5 steals per game.

To put that into perspective how challenging it will be for Booker to do that, last season he averaged 0.9 steals per game and has a 0.8 career steal average. It seems like a near impossible task, but near impossible tasks are not new for Booker. Booker scored an incredible 70 points in a single game, only 10 other times have five other players scored more than him in that scenario. That being said, it’s hard to imagine Booker not being able to improve his defense.

Joseph Lowery of Valley of the Suns, believes Booker has to and will improve on defense as well. Not only will Booker have to put in the work himself to improve his 116 defensive rating from last season, head coach Earl Watson will have to force his team to buckle down on defense as well. If Watson can do that, then it is yet to be seen. Regardless, Booker must focus on his defense if he wants to continue to climb the the charts as an elite player.

Booker will have to work hard to bring this prediction into fruition. Offensively Booker will be fine, but I have a feeling that Booker will surprise Phoenix Suns and become a legit defender this upcoming season.
