Even though he was the 4th pick this past summer, Jackson is surprisingly not talked more often when it comes to the rookie of the year race. Many consider Markelle Fultz and Ben Simmons as the favorites for rookie of the year.

“If you ask me, of course I’m going to say I’m the best player in this draft, but if you ask those other guys, they’re going to say the same thing about themselves, I’m sure,” Jackson said in a press con after he was drafted. “But just I love competition, and I love proving people wrong. I’ve been drafted to Phoenix, and I’m going to go there and I’m going to make the best of it. I’m going to be the best player I can be. And those teams who didn’t draft me, one day they will be sorry.”

If the competitiveness in him is real, then expect winning rookie of the year to be one of his goals.

Of course he will have a longer leash than most rookies because of the way Phoenix has embraced the youth movement. In fact, he might even be the starting small forward sooner than later.
