1988 and played eight total seasons in Phoenix (1988-94, and 1999-2000). Although his Suns career totals don’t look like much (6.9 PPG, 0.4 APG and 6 RPG), his best statistical years were in the 1980s. During that early stretch, West averaged 9.8 PPG, 0.6 APG and 7.9 RPG while shooting 60% from the field. His greatest asset as a Sun was his durability. In his first stint in Phoenix from 88-94, West never missed a game, playing in 521 consecutive games. Ironically, those seasons in Phoenix were the only totally healthy ones of his career as in each of his other 10 seasons, he never played in a full 82-game slate.

In fact, in 1987-88, because the Cleveland Cavaliers (who he was traded from) had already played one more game than the Suns at the time of the transaction. That season he played in a total of 83 games, leading the league in games played.
