Mohamed Bamba, C, Texas
Strengths:
Mo Bamba is an athlete. He’s a decent inside scorer with developing post moves. Like Ayton, Bamba is capable of stretching the floor and (occasionally) knocking down an outside jumper. Another seven-footer, he has a fantastic wingspan. With it, Bamba is a terrific shot blocker who can alter every attempt remotely near him. Another benefit to Bamba’s long wingspan is his terrific rebounding ability. He’s able to snatch balls out of the air and help his team get out on the fastbreak. For now, think of a skinny, better shooting DeAndre Jordan.

Mo Bamba is raw. He’s also currently only 215 pounds so he will need to gain a lot of muscle before reaching the NBA. Bamba also needs to work on his jumper. If he can develop a more consistent stroke, he could be an even more dangerous offensive weapon. Finally, like Porter, there have been small concerns about his motor, but hopefully, after a season at Texas, any and all concerns will be ironed out.
Fit:
Again, don’t over think this. Center is a position of need for the Suns and Mohammed Bamba is one of the top center prospects in this class. Bamba could easily slide in a lineup at the five next to Marquese Chriss. It is possible that Mo could even make up for some of Chriss’ defensive deficiencies with his talent for shot blocking. On offense, Bamba’s athleticism would add another dimension to an already exciting group.
