Brandon Knight’s injury actually makes things easier

Tanking
As I speculated before, there is a chance that Brandon Knight – knowing that his only ticket out of Phoenix was to play as well as he possibly could – would actually have a good season, and either endear himself with the franchise, or perform well enough to be traded, but help the team win a couple of games in the process.

While the chances of this happening to any legitimate degree are low, if the Suns organization would rather tank for a high 2018 lottery pick, knowing that Knight will not be out there regularly to help the team win, is actually cause for relief.
Even one or two extra wins this season could lead to a lower draft lottery spot thus hurting the franchise’s chances at snagging a top-three pick. So while Knight was unlikely to perform to such a level that the team won multiple games due to his play, had he played well enough to win a couple that they otherwise would not have won, keeping him away from the team will actually be a blessing in disguise.
