Okay, I know this one is a little crazy. New Orleans might not even be willing to trade Cousins, who they received in a trade from the Sacramento Kings last winter before the trade deadline. But Boston has a lot of incentive to go for it! Acquiring Boogie would fill a drastic need for a dominant five (we all know that Al Horford should be playing power forward anyways). Of course, the Pelicans are going to need a lot in return, hence the two valuable backup centers for the Celtics, Kelly Olynyk and Tyler Zeller, as well as Brown headed to the Big Easy, and maybe even a future draft pick or cash considerations if it were to actually happen. Gaining a new starting wing in Jae Crowder and some guard talent in the young E’twaun Moore, with the number one pick, while only losing TJ Warren and Eric Bledsoe, seems like a sweet deal for Phoenix. Admittedly, this is the longshot of all four trades, but it’s interesting to think about.
Will any of this really happen? Maybe not. But, as I like to say, it is in the realm of possibility. Phoenix needs to find a way to obtain that number one draft pick somehow if Boston wants to trade it. Whether or not they would use it to draft Markelle Fultz is another story but, for what it’s worth, it would be stupid not to. Sure, Phoenix needs a forward like Josh Jackson or Jayson Tatum more than ANOTHER guard, but when a player like this comes along, who is being considered a James Harden-Russell Westbrook hybrid by some, the opportunity cannot be overlooked.
