Danny Ainge is a tough customer to read. He could trade this pick for Jimmy Butler or Paul George. But I don’t think he will. He has shown a keen ability to build for the short and long-term concurrently and he knows that drafting someone like Fultz keeps the Celtics competitive for a decade or more. I think they’ll keep the pick and take the best player available. There’s no doubt that Fultz is the best two-way player in this draft. The Celtics will again have the Nets pick in 2018 which means that all Boston has to do is be patient and they could have a young core of Fultz, Brown, and maybe Michael Porter with three additional first round picks in 2019. It’s good to be a Celtics fan.
