It starts with rookie Devin Booker, and his battle for minutes with Sonny Weems and Archie Goodwin. Booker’s three-point shooting may earn him playing time, but Weems could be the first guard off the bench because he’s probably the most NBA-ready of the three, especially as someone who could be the next Gerald Green.
Heading into his third season, Goodwin is sporting an improved jump shot, but can he play defense and take care of the ball? Is he due for a breakout season, or will his future with the Suns come into question if Booker proves he’s ready for the big leagues?
There’s also T.J. Warren, coming off a strong last couple of months as one of the smarter players in the Suns’ offense for his willingness to cut and his finishing ability around the rim. With Tyson Chandler being brought on board, Alex Len will move into a bench role, and the newly acquired Mirza Teletovic has all the makings of a fan favorite.
With everyone except Morris showing up early for voluntary workouts, Media Day will provide an opportunity to learn more about the new players and the returning players who will be taking on new roles in 2015-16, particularly when it comes to how they’re meshing on a new team.
