Phoenix Suns 5-on-5: Prepping For Media Day
By Gavin Schall
5. There’s been a lot of debate all summer so let’s end it, which Suns team (all-time) is best for NBA 2K?
Gerald Bouguet: Probably the 2004-05 Suns, the team that’s being featured on NBA 2K16. The 1992-93 Suns won just as many games and actually made it farther in the postseason by reaching the NBA Finals, but the 2004-05 Suns were built for video games. With so many perimeter shooters, an elite pick-and-roll dribbler in Steve Nash and an athletic dunking machine in Amar’e Stoudemire, that Suns team makes the most sense.
Gavin Schall: The guys over at EA sports probably put a lot more thought into this than I did and I think they nailed it by taking the 2004-05 Suns. That first Nash team might just be the most conducive to video game success of any team ever. You have elite shooting 1-3, Marion and STAT are in the mix for ridiculous dunks, Nash to toss pinpoint lobs from all over the court and Smush Parker as the human victory cigar. What more could you ask for out of a virtual basketball team?

Scott Chasen: I really, really, really, really hope people don’t misinterpret this question. This is about the best 2K team, and not the best team overall, so without a doubt the answer has to be the 7SOL team with Joe Johnson and Q-Rich. People forget Richardson hit something like 10 threes in a game, which makes him absolutely perfect alongside what I assume will be a 100% healthy team on the game.
Nash, Marion, Stoudemire, Johnson, Richardson and Barbosa? Forget about it. That’s 2K gold. I just hope they’ll give Nash the ability to throw a lob from half court, because anyone who has ever played 2K knows passing over long distances is literally impossible.
Spencer Hann: Once again, the easy choice: 2005-06 Phoenix Suns hands down. However, the 2006-07 Suns were no joke and it can’t be understated how offensively potent that team was. Nash (playing maybe his best basketball ever), Amar’e and Marion all in the prime of their primes. Scary stuff.
Troy Tauscher: The one they picked, without a doubt. The 2004-05 team was just so much fun, and it’s also easy to control because you just hit the button that initiates Amare into a pick-and-roll. I’ll probably play as them more often then the current team. I would like to see the 1992-93 team though. A couple years ago when you could make teams, someone did the 90s Suns and it was a lot of fun. Also, the 1975-76 team that made the Finals. Basically, I want all three of the best teams.
