Suns 5-On-5: Breaking Down The New Look
By Gavin Schall
3) Does the latest Markieff Morris tweet make trading him any more urgent?
Bourguet: Not at all. We all know the moment of truth is going to be when he has to report to Phoenix, so any griping in the meantime is to be expected. The media circus surrounding training camp is going to be interesting, but the front office still holds all the power here. That first face-to-face meeting will be crucial, but there’s a chance Jeff Hornacek was right when he said he believes Markieff will be okay.
Schall: If anything, it slows the process down. The more Markieff talks, the lower his trade value is and unlike Goran Dragic a year ago, the Suns don’t have to worry about him being able to leave on his own. That being said, it does make it all the more inevitable that he’ll be dealt down the road.

Chasen: The opposite. The Suns should tell Markieff Morris if he really wants to be traded he has to go a month without doing anything stupid. That way, they can gain some leverage as teams either bid against each other or start to think there’s a possibility of the situation working itself out.
Taucher: I don’t think so. His position has been made quite clear, so restating it on the Internet doesn’t really affect the situation. I personally still hold out hope that he and Hornacek/McDonough/Babby/Sarver can one day sit down and have a man-to-man about it. It’s unlikely, but I think the urgency to move him is unchanged. Some guys are just outspoken online.
Harris: I wouldn’t say that it makes trading him more urgent, but it does add fuel the fire. I believe that Markieff Morris will be gone at least by the time of the trade deadline, but probably sooner than that. He clearly has no interest in playing for the Suns, and if he puts up some good numbers early this year then I think it would be wise for Phoenix to trade him while his value is relatively high.
