Hear me out. While neither Mario Chalmers nor Josh McRoberts is anything to get excited about, they’d be a decent return considering how far Keef’s trade value is currently plummeting.

The Miami Heat have a terrific roster on paper, but it still might not be enough to seriously challenge the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Eastern Conference crown. Adding Markieff Morris to a roster that already features former Suns like Goran Dragic and Gerald Green — a friend of Keef’s — would give the Heat a little extra oomph off the bench.

  • This deal would also shave nearly $2 million off the books for the Heat by dealing away two players that Pat Riley has supposedly been dangling for quite some time now. Keef would be a clear upgrade over either one coming off the bench, especially since McRoberts’ season was ravaged by injury.

Injury history probably doesn’t scare the Suns as much as other teams because of their training staff, and Rio and McBob would actually be decent additions. McRoberts could start as a solid two-way power forward since he’s an intelligent passer, a committed defender and a decent three-point shooter on the right roster.

As for Chalmers, he may rub some people the wrong way, but he’s a competitor and he’d be a definite upgrade over Ronnie Price as the team’s third point guard. A talent on a bargain deal like Keef should net a better return in a vacuum, but this kind of compensation may be closer reality now.
