Sam Dekker

Like his former teammate Frank Kaminsky, Sam Dekker seems to treat all of these media opportunities as an opportunity to have fun, and that’s by no means a criticism. When you’re getting asked the same ridiculous questions over and over again, why not try to enjoy yourself? That being said Dekker also proved to be quite insightful as to what directions the league is trending in an how he fits into that.

On his biggest strength

"“I think versatility on both ends of the court, being the athletic kid that likes to run up the wings, but also drive and shoot from the outside. That’s going to be big for me.”"

What he wanted to show teams

"“I wanted to show them defensively I can defend bigs or smalls. And I wanted to show them that I can and will be a very consistent shooter. I definitely have shown that, I feel good and just very confident putting them up.”"

On his potential fit in Phoenix playing minutes at power forward

"“For example, take the NBA Finals you had 6’6″ guys playing the 4 or 6’9″ guys playing the 2, so it doesn’t really matter. With the way Phoenix plays where they get up and down that’ll be good for me, I’d be playing in as an in-and-out, stretching the floor, but I don’t see myself being uncomfortable with that.”"

Dekker added that while he’s most comfortable at the small forward spot, he feels like he has the ability to play both ends at the 2-4. Dekker, like Kevin Looney, noted that the Phoenix workout was different then a lot of other team’s. The Suns put more of an emphasis on running, having players do sprints at the beginning, middle and end of workout.
