A Phoenix, AZ native, Alan Williams probably went under the radar for most college basketball fans — unless you were checking who was leading the nation in rebounding. A 22-year-old coming off his senior season at UC Santa Barbara, Williams is a 6’8″, 261-pound behemoth who might be able to carve out a role for himself in the NBA thanks to one elite skill: rebounding.
After averaging 17.3 ponts, 11.8 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.2 steals per game to lead the Gauchos in his final collegiate season, Williams is projected as a late second round pick.
The question is, is he worth general manager Ryan McDonough’s attention at No. 44 in the draft order? Here’s a look at his game and whether or not the Suns should take a second round flier on Alan Williams.
