A 6’5″, 199-pound shooting guard from UNLV, Vaughn has the potential to become an elite NBA scorer based on what he displayed in college. As an 18-year-old freshman with the Runnin’ Rebels, Vaughn averaged 17.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from three-point range (on 6.3 attempts per game).
He probably isn’t too high on many people’s draft boards, but ESPN’s Chad Ford has him ranked No. 18 in this year’s draft class and even reported that Phoenix is giving him a look on his latest Big Board.
Vaughn still has a lot of areas of his game to develop, as most 18-year-olds do, but he has plenty to offer an NBA team. If the Suns are going with “best available” at No. 13, it’s unlikely that Vaughn would be their guy, but for the sake of being thorough, here’s a look at where he might fit in at the NBA level.
