Phoenix Suns: Don’t Count On A Morris Twins Trade
The Next Court Date
For the last month or so, May 7 was seen by most fans as a day that would shed some light on how these court proceedings might play out. Unfortunately, that was simply their arraignment. All we found out was that the Morrii were pleading “not guilty” and that their initial pretrial conference would be Jun. 30.
On that date, the Morris twins will (ideally) be able to reach a plea agreement to avoid this being taken to trial. But no matter what happens, we won’t know the next step in this legal process until the end of June — four days after the 2015 NBA Draft, to be exact.
Bearing that in mind, the chances of an imminent trade are ZERO. For those hoping the Suns would try to move up in the draft and select one of the many talented big men in this year’s rookie class, Phoenix doesn’t have a remote chance of talking another team into trading for the Morrii with this legal issue unresolved.
These charges could come with several years in prison if the twins are found guilty, which means no team is touching them until this situation arrives at a more preferable conclusion than jail time.
