Selling Low

If the Morris twins were to be packaged in a trade, however, it would be immediately following a plea agreement that allows the twins to avoid jail time. The ideal return in that scenario would be a disgruntled superstar that could become the face of the Suns franchise (like a LaMarcus Aldridge or a Kevin Love, for example).

Unfortunately, unless this legal process wraps up in an extremely quick and painless matter (which pretty much never happens), the Morrii’s trade value would be extremely low all summer — even if they’re found not guilty.

Keef is an extremely underrated offensive weapon and Mook can help a lot of teams with perimeter shooting off the bench. But the two have developed reputations as head cases over the last year, even if we completely ignore the aggravated assault charges. The Suns would be selling them for pennies on the dollar in that kind of panic trade scenario.

Back in the 2000s, the Suns panic-traded Jason Kidd — a top-five point guard at the time — because of the domestic abuse situation involving his wife. The Morris twins aren’t top five at their respective positions, but Phoenix would still be wise to avoid another bad deal simply for the sake of moving them.
