5. Who is one player with a first round projection you do not want the Suns to take?

Schall: This is a really deep draft and it would be a shame if the Suns drafted for need over talent. Bobby Portis is going to be a really solid NBA player, but he doesn’t have one skill that really stands out. If Phoenix is going to continue to toe the line between rebuilding and competing they’re going to have to take a shot on a higher variance guy and hope he hits.

Chasen: Mario Hezonja. I love Hezonja’s potential, and he definitely has all the physical tools, but his attitude is a BIG issue right now. That’s the last thing the Suns need to deal with… Another player with an attitude issue. They’d be far better off taking a player who has it all together right now.

Hann: I don’t have a specific player, I will only say this: Any player the Suns take NEEDS to be above 6’8 and HAS to be a power forward or center. If Phoenix is going to take the next step, they have to add size to their roster. In other words, short of D’Angelo Russell falling out of the top-10 to the Suns, there is no way they can possibly justify taking another guard this year.

Saar: There aren’t many players that wouldn’t help the Suns, but Cameron Payne is somewhat redundant with Eric Bledsoe, so it wouldn’t be a great pick.

Harris: Rondae Hollis Jefferson, forward, seemed like a guy who could have benefited from one more year of college. Often times, it looked like he used his 6-6 220 frame to score in the low post and gobble up rebounds. That is not a recipe for success in the NBA and he might need to improve his shooting for an NBA career.
