5. Can the Suns find a way to win two more games for a .500 season? Which two games will those be?
Bourguet: Not to be a Debbie Downer, but probably not. If they were to win two more games, my guess would be against the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans. The Mavs haven’t played great basketball since the Rajon Rondo trade and the Suns could play spoiler to New Orleans’ playoff hopes if the Pellies aren’t careful.
Chasen: Sure. The Hawks are 8-7 in their last 15 games, and they’re 4-5 in their last nine, so there’s no reason that Phoenix couldn’t steal a win there. The Mavericks and Pelicans are also certainly beatable, and there’s no telling who the Spurs and the Clippers could be resting as the Suns close out the year. My guess would be that the Suns finish out the year at either 2-3 or 3-2.
Hann: The chances are extremely high. The pressure is completely off the Suns as they are just playing spoiler at this point in the season. At Dallas on Wednesday and the season finale against the Clippers, you can write it down now. As a matter-of-fact, the only game I’m completely counting them out to win is their Sunday contest against the ageless goliath that is the San Antonio Spurs.
Saar: I think so. In all probability it will be the next two games. The Hawks have homecourt in the Eastern Conference locked up and may rest players, while the Suns have had the Mavericks’ number for a couple years now.
Harris: Well beating Utah was big because they took care of business against an inferior team (although Utah has been playing fantastic as of late). Unfortunately, all of the teams remaining are right in the thick of their respective playoff pushes. However, I see the Suns beating Dallas, since they’ve played the Mavericks great all year, and I also see them beating New Orleans. Phoenix beating San Antonio is a possibility if Popovich decides to rest his good players.
