Nothing. It means absolutely nothing. Never has a major move in the NBA impacted the Phoenix Suns less than LeBron James heading to the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year, $8 million deal.
Wait, that's not strictly true. He is getting out of the Western Conference and the same division as the Suns so they don't have to see him four times a season.
Suns were never a destination for Phoenix even when it was talked about
Going back to the last time James was potentially on the move, and the fact the Suns could have drafted Bronny James Jr. was seen as a potential power play for his services. That obviously didn't happen, and it was only ever a ploy by James and Klutch to get the Los Angeles Lakers to take his son.
So actually we're wrong again because this does have something to do with the Suns and it is more good news.
Phoenix will never again be used as a bargaining chip by James to get what he wants, while Bronny's own deal was picked up by the Lakers so he can't even be talked about as a future Suns player right now either. Apparently James Harden can though, and he's somebody the franchise should want even less than LeBron.
The Lakers losing out on a star is always funny, and the Lakers have gotten worse in the process.
Not that the Suns will be able to take advantage of this, they've got their own house to keep in order. Miles Bridges is in town now and although this press conference went as well as could have been expected, there are plenty of fans who are still unhappy with the decision.
What does a fifth James ring do for his legacy before he calls it a career then? You're really not listening are you, we don't care. Go ahead and get a sixth if you want, it is all about trying to get Devin Booker over the line.
Or having Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green take another offensive step forward, which would help Booker on that quest. How is Kevin Durant feeling about all of this? Seriously...
We're more into Koa Peat's desire to become the next Dennis Rodman on the boards, or Khaman Maluach suddenly discovering at Summer League he has the body to run over most opponents. These are the real issues to get stuck into in July.
LeBron is finally on the move, the Suns were never involved at any point and this is only funny because the Lakers lost out. Hooray?
