A great start to life in the NBA for Koby Brea.

Through two NBA Summer League games in Las Vegas, one thing that has quickly become clear for the Phoenix Suns is just how much their fanbase is getting behind this new version of the team. In the last couple of seasons - with a veteran heavy group and no real rookies to get excited about - this time of year had passed the franchise by.

It was all about contending for championships around Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, and we all know how that ended. It is also foolish to read too much into the play of these games, but there have been some encouraging signs for Phoenix to this point. Second year forward Oso Ighodaro looks comfortable with more responsibility, but it is rookie Koby Brea who has stolen the show.

Brea was so hot out of the gates from beyond the arc against the Washington Wizards that he effectively ended the career of one of his new teammates in The Valley. He led all Suns scorers in that game with 189 points, and followed that up with another solid outing against the Atlanta Hawks.

In the aftermath of both games, right across social media there were fans commenting on how Brea's game is "Devin Booker-lite", and they're not wrong. There's something about the way he gets to his spots offensively - not to mention the gorgeous form on his jumper - that would remind you of when Booker got to Phoenix a decade ago.

Brea is the skinnier of the two at this point, but if you cast your mind back Booker didn't come into the league with as much muscle as he has today. About the biggest compliment you can give Brea at this point - and it is something that is often evident at Summer League - is just how much better and more comfortable he looks on the court compared to pretty much everybody else.

Ighodaro and Ryan Dunn also come across this way, but they have a year of experience under their belts. The Booker comparisons are really encouraging, but we have to remember that Brea is a second round pick on a two-way contract and so expectations for the season need to be measured. Then again, the Suns have a solid track record of selecting players in the second round recently.

Toumani Camara continues to be the one that got away - but if Brea can pop in any way long-term in Phoenix - it will make the Durant trade look that bit better in hindsight. Center Khaman Maluach was the prized youngster that the Suns were able to select, but it is Brea who has looked the most NBA ready out in the desert so far.

Even if he begins life as a spot-up shooter from deep when given an opportunity, that already looks like an excellent use of his talents. There is more under the hood offensively - and mentioning his name alongside Booker's is dangerous to do before ever playing a regular season game - but it is a great start for both player and team.
