The NBA is back later this month, and NBA on Prime put together a nice little TV spot to showcase their coverage of the games. It was the kind of feel-good advertisement everybody can enjoy, unless you're Ryan Dunn of the Phoenix Suns, who, for some reason, was put in the position of failing to guard all of the elite talent on display.
Dunn being used in defender's position as he is not a household name
If you watch the video below, once all of the superstars start dunking and taking shots, it is Dunn who is unable to stop them. But why? Our best guess is that the forward possesses the kind of long frame that is ideal when trying to showcase how impressive scoring over him actually is, which, in some ways, is quite the backhanded compliment.

Dunn would have had to sign off on this, so it's not like he is particularly worried about his inclusion either. Of more concern is the fact that Devin Booker was not involved in the commercial.
The third-year forward might be appearing on a national spot for the first time in his career in the worst possible way, but that is not the biggest development for him personally. The Suns have exercised their fourth-year option on his deal, while he arrived at training camp ready to fight for his spot in The Valley.
Dunn still has potential to be top defender in NBA
Time might be running out to prove he can make a difference in Phoenix, but Dunn still possesses the raw tools to be a top defender in this league. He's got the lateral quickness to smother quicker guards on the perimeter, while his length means he can have some impact inside the paint.
It is his lack of consistent shooting that has always held him back, to the point that eventually being waived by the Suns might not be as ridiculous as you think. Maybe Jalen Brunson and Jayson Tatum gave him some pointers on set to help make that happen.
This also highlights that the Suns are again being slept on, as having one of the better defenders on a 45-win team in this position means the team is again being taken for granted. It's not like we'll see much of them on Prime or any national TV partner, given they will only be appearing nine times. The use of Dunn here is yet more fuel for their competitive fire.
