The Phoenix Suns have conducted a lot of business this offseason, which has now put them in prime position to get involved in the Jonathan Kuminga sweepstakes as trade talk heats up. Their decision to buy out Bradley Beal is the key reason for this, as the Suns are now under both aprons and can engage in those trade talks much more freely.
Kuminga also appears to have some interest in heading to Phoenix as well, although that could be more to do with the money and length of contract reportedly on offer than anything else. Four years and a figure that has varied from $70-$90 million depending on who you believe, which is much more than his current employers the Golden State Warriors are willing to part with.
Kuminga seemingly prefers a move to the Sacramento Kings.
Marc Spears was on NBA Today to talk all things Kuminga - and as several others have also suggested - the Sacramento Kings are the other frontrunner to trade for the 22-year-old at this point. Rumors also have the Kings willing to part with a first round pick in any deal, with the Warriors wanting no protections on any potential first that is involved in the package.
The Suns can't compete with that, and to this point have supposedly offered up Nick Richards, Royce O'Neale and four second rounders. Not quite as enticing, but Spears doesn't think that even matters. According to him - and based off conversations he's heard where Kuminga has been promised a starting role in Sacramento - he wants to go to the Kings.
Marc Spears says Kuminga "wants to go" to Sacramento:

"The Kings are offering a starting spot. He's talked on a zoom call with Scott Perry, BJ Armstrong and also with Doug Christie. He's in."
He also said the Suns have offered:

For the Suns to be going head-to-head with one of the worst run franchises in the league this century - and not coming out on top - is hugely concerning. But this is what they get for botching the Durant and Beal era so badly, while signing Devin Booker to a massive two-year extension off the back of a 36 win season brings with it some tough questions as well.
On top of all of that, the Suns seemingly rejected Booker's desire for Chris Paul to come back to The Valley, with the 40-year-old point guard supposedly open to the reunion. If you're going to reward your superstar - then not listen to his first request when the ink isn't even dry on his extension - that gives out massive mixed signals.
Really though this is what owner Mat Ishbia gets for meddling with the roster from the moment he bought the team, while hiring Michigan State alumni in General Manager Brian Gregory and first time head coach Jordan Ott didn't go unnoticed either. Both of those decisions could work out - Gregory hasn't had the worst start to life in Phoenix - but the rest of the league noticed.
If Kuminga really thinks going to a location that has both Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan on their roster - and wasted the prime of DeMarcus Cousins - instead of joining forces with Booker, that is a shocking state for the Suns to be in. They were in the NBA Finals four seasons ago, while the Kings lit a beam to just make it back to the playoffs after a record absence. A dreadful look.
