The Phoenix Suns don't figure to be overly active ahead of the NBA trade deadline, and if anything it could be one of their key players who is on the move out of The Valley.

General Manager Brian Gregory, who is having himself a heck of a first season is charge, should be looking for ways to improve the roster around the fringes, and the perfect candidate has emerged.

Suns simply have to go and get Guerschon Yabusele.

As you're probably aware by now, Guerschon Yabusele is with the Emirates NBA Cup champion New York Knicks, although he didn't see any action in the final against the San Antonio Spurs.

In fact he's barely being used at all this season, playing less than 10 minutes a night across 24 games so far. So why would the Suns have any interest in a 30-year-old who is listed as a center when they already have a surplus of bigs?

If you've watched Yabusele play, then you'll know he's not a traditional five, and could do some serious damage as a power forward for head coach Jordan Ott. In fact, he's probably the perfect player to implement into his system.

Consider that the currently injured Isaiah Livers would absolutely be getting more minutes for the Suns if he was available. He's a more stocky forward than Nigel Hayes-Davis and a better defender, which is how he beat him out of the rotation.

Yabusele would be taking what Livers already does and moving forward another step with it, and alongside Dillon Brooks the pair would punish opponents every night.

We have also seen from his play with the French national team that he can play as a center when required too, that just wouldn't be necessary thanks to the emergence of Mark Williams.

The more options a roster has the better chance they have to succeed, and Yabusele would represent an intriguing alternative at an affordable price. Surely a pair of second round picks would get it done?

He's an unrestricted free agent next summer and is making around the same amount as Nick Richards at $5 million, so this is a low-risk deal that the organization should be interested in.

It is just unfortunately for the player that he's on a roster with Karl-Anthony Towns, Mitchell Robinson and even Josh Hart. Hard to prise minutes away from any of those guys.

But in Phoenix he would replace Richards, who may even be the player going to New York in a trade, while he would push Livers and even players like Royce O'Neale hard for minutes. He's the ideal coach Ott player and he's there to be acquired, make it happen Gregory.
