The Phoenix Suns were laughed at for making the Kevin Durant trade that they did this offseason, but it has ended up working out really well. Although Jalen Green has barely featured, if anything his eventual return is going to make an already frisky team even better.
Dillon Brooks has finally found a franchise to embrace him.
Which makes Dillon Brooks the current x-factor of the trade that went down. He's carried himself like the Suns' second best player behind Devin Booker all season - and although Grayson Allen might just have something to say about that - at times it has been true.
This has been Brooks' problem throughout his career in the league, but it is being embraced in Phoenix and everybody is winning. He tried to be the tough guy with the Memphis Grizzlies, yet all that lead to was an embarrassing one-sided beef with LeBron James.

That was also Ja Morant's team and although Brooks did have a role as the enforcer, at times offensively he tried to be so much more than that. It didn't work out, which led to him landing with the Houston Rockets. To be fair to him, he toned down the theatrics some there.
This led to him being an underrated offensive player who could shoot over 40 percent from deep and was the emotional leader for a young group. Still prone to trying to take over however, which was a problem with budding stars in Alperen Sengun and Amen Thompson needing the ball.
Onto The Valley for the 29-year-old, and this time the fit is just right. It also helps that Brooks has been able to refine his approach as well, although as we saw when receiving a technical foul while not even suited up to play earlier this season, that guy is still in there.
Much like Draymond Green with the Golden State Warriors, it is about finding that line and only going over it sparingly. Brooks doing a much better job of knowing when to take over for stretches offensively as well, and Devin Booker deserves credit for how that has happened.
There's no world in which Brooks should be taking more shots than Booker, yet that was happening earlier in the campaign. Right now he's taking 17 field goals a night, over five attempts more than his previous career high (11.9). That is the second most on the roster, which again is acceptable.
But that is only because Allen remains out injured, and the pair should come closer together (Allen sits third at 13.3 efforts) when he's back on the court. The Suns have guys like Collin Gillespie and Mark Williams who have massively outperformed expectations this season.
But they also needed somebody who didn't mind sliding into Green's position alongside Booker, and Brooks answered the call. The fact he likely would have attempted to anyway even if Green was healthy could have been a problem, but right now it is everything The Valley needs.
