The Phoenix Suns’ busy offseason continued with a two-way NBA contract agreement with a guard who’s had the team’s number in the past while competing for a division rival.

Pat Spencer, who played three seasons with the Golden State Warriors, agreed to a two-way NBA contract with the Suns two days ahead of his 30th birthday, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Much like current Suns guard Collin Gillespie, who was re-signed this offseason, Spencer experienced a breakout with more opportunity during the 2025-26 campaign.

In his age 29 season, Spencer played 66 games (14 starts) as his role under head coach Steve Kerr expanded due to injuries ahead of him on the depth chart. For context, he played just 45 games total across two seasons prior with Golden State.

What were Pat Spencer’s NBA stats?

In those 66 games, Spencer averaged career bests across the board with 7.2 points, 3.5 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 0.7 steals per game. He shot 42.7% from the floor and a respectable 35.7% from 3-point range.

Ironically, Spencer put together arguably the best game of his pro career back on Feb. 5 against the team he’ll now join.

With Steph Curry sidelined with injury, Spencer got the start at point guard for Golden State and made the most of the opportunity. In the 101-97 upset win over the Suns, Spencer drained a career-high six 3-pointers en route to a career-high 20 points. He added six rebounds, four assists and two steals to the box score.

Spencer brings point guard depth to Phoenix lower down on the Suns’ depth chart. He’ll likely compete for minutes with fellow guard Jamaree Bouyea and gives the Suns a failsafe in case Gillespie needs to miss time with injury.

Needless to say, he’ll endear himself to the fan base if his hot shooting on Phoenix’s court carries over to next season.

A Maryland native, Spencer played college ball at Northwestern but was never drafted. He signed his first NBA contract with the Warriors in July of 2022.
