The 10 Greatest Suns in history, ranked by Player Efficiency Rating (PER)

4. Kevin Johnson - 21.0
Oh what the Suns of today could do with a point guard of Kevin Johnson's ability. A player who - outside of 52 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers to begin his career - was a Suns lifer. One who retired in 1998, only to be coaxed back out again to help his team in its hour of need.
Johnson is second all-time in assists for the franchise - Nash unsurprisingly leads this category - and on one occasion in 1994 had a ridiculous 25 points in a win over the San Antonio Spurs. A look at his Basketball Reference page reveals he was a fringe MVP candidate at several points throughout his career, which speaks to his longevity and impact.
Appearing in 105 playoff games for the team also shows how - as long as he was healthy and on the court - the Suns had a consistent presence that helped them get to the postseason year-on-year. That many of those runs didn't last very long can be partially blamed on Johnson, but also the lack of help he had for some of his time in Phoenix.
