The Phoenix Suns are facing a championship or bust season after making an all-in trade for Bradley Beal. They are fighting for the sixth and final guaranteed playoff spot after injuries have taken a toll on their season. The Suns Big 3 is still working out the kinks, but no team wants to face them in the playoffs. Defending Phoenix is a nightmare, and they can outscore the opposition in any contest.

The Suns have been searching for role players to maximize Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. They have played 22 different men this season and contiune to change out pieces. Having the right options in their rotation could be the difference between a championship run and an early postseason exit.

Every year, several players end their NBA careers. Some do it by choice and others are played out of the league. It could be for a plethora of different reasons, but these Suns might be on the verge of ending their time in the league.

5. Isaiah Thomas

Thomas has been on the fringes of the league since his All-Star season with the Celtics in 2017. The 5’9 point guard was an elite scorer and offensive weapon during his peak. He made second-team All-NBA and finished fifth in MVP voting before injuries struck.

Thomas has played in just 110 games over the last seven years combined. He did not appear in a contest in the 2022-23 season and has clawed his way back into the league with the Suns. KD had high praise for IT, but the veteran point guard must prove himself on the floor if he wants to remain in the NBA.

The 35-year-old is only on a ten-day contract and has played just two minutes thus far. The Suns could let Thomas go at any moment, but they need another player on their roster for the postseason. It is on Isaiah Thomas to grab that role and show he can still play at this level. The odds are stacked against the undersized point guard, but they have been for his entire career.

Thomas is the most obvious, but far from the only Sun who could be out of the NBA next season.
